David Sandells has 13 years aerospace industry experience including roles of Chief and Lead Engineer for systems such as landing gear valves and uplocks (Boeing 787) and electric primary flight actuation system (Merlin helicopter). System designer on Fuel Systems, hydraulic flap actuation systems for and electrical thrust reversers for aircraft from large commercial jets (Airbus A380) to smaller Business Jets and light military aircraft.
David is an aviation enthusiast and holds a glider pilot instructors rating and an NPPL (Self Launching Motor Gliders). David holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Management and is currently completing his Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.
David joined Coventry University in 2011 and lectures in electrical system, hydraulics, landing gear and structural design and industrial project management skills to 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates. He also teaches sustainable aviation to masters level students at CU partner institution Emirates Aviation University.
