Richard has been in higher education since 2006, and joined Coventry University in 2012 as a senior lecturer, and subsequently course director for the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy course. He is a practicing sports therapist, working primarily in the sport of Rugby Union at a semi-professional level, and also within the clinic based on campus. He has published a number of papers in the field of injury risk identification and minimisation in semi-professional rugby players, and he teaches across a range of modules within the course including trauma and injury management, mobilisations and clinical skills.
