Project Overview

The OIL project aims to enable students from CU (Leadership and Management, as well as Social Welfare and Community Studies) to experience two presentations from NGO’s in both countries, lectures providing an orientation to social welfare in both countries as well as an opportunity to meet and discuss student perspectives.

The use of social media, would allow students to continue to discuss issues for 14 days following the event.

OIL Outcomes

Understanding of social welfare in a different country, social welfare challenges and how services in the respective countries attempt to support users of those services. Opportunity to understand different cultural perspectives and opportunities for employment and skills transfer.

 

Students will also have an opportunity to undertake a field trip to South Africa and follow up with a report on their experiences.
