Mark Thorley’s work combines research, consultancy, and academic leadership and draws upon his background as a classically trained musician, technologist, and entrepreneur. He presents at conferences throughout the world, and his research appears in a variety of publications ranging from Oxford University Press and the Audio Engineering Society, through to the Journal of Popular Music and Society. He has also acted as Principal Investigator on funded projects including a number for the UK’s Higher Education Academy. He has authored and been Director of a number of academic programmes in the UK, and collaborated extensively with other institutions in the United States, Australia, and South Africa. He was a Director of the Music Producers’ Guild, and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
